Atlas Announces Creation Of New Field Machining Division

Louisville, KY - Atlas Machine and Supply, Inc. has created a new Field Machining division capable of handling major complex repairs onsite for manufacturers located throughout the Eastern United States. The new division's activities are being supported by the purchase of one-million-dollars in machinery—the most acquired at one time in the company's 104-year history.

Atlas Machine and Supply, which employs about 200 workers, previously handled such jobs through its existing shop machinists, but a recent increase in demand for its onsite repair services prompted Atlas to create the new division.

Atlas acura is initially dedicating three new machinist positions to the division which is based at the company's headquarters located in Louisville's Jefferson Riverport. Rich Gimmel, president of Atlas Machine and Supply, forecasted the division's number of new hires will easily double within a year and continue to climb in the future.  Skilled machinists in these jobs receive top pay and benefits and are capable of earning six-figures annually with overtime, said Mr. Gimmel.

"Even though there is still uncertainty about the overall economy among business, we are seeing an increase in activity among U.S. manufacturers as they become more competitive with other countries," said Mr. Gimmel. "As a result, we're experiencing a greater demand for Atlas services to perform complicated on-site repairs that come up in industry."

Being able to perform challenging j auto part obs onsite also makes good financial sense for industry, added Mr. Gimme cadillac l.  Doing the work on location reduces both transportation and lost car news production costs and keeps industries running.

"Atlas Machine's new division and capital investment is a good sign for our economy," said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. "Not only is Atlas finding a way to be flexible and move with the demand, it also means that business is on an uptick. This is good for everyone."

Atlas is initially offering its new division's specialized services to large industries--such as steel and aluminum manufacturers, heavy-duty construction companies, the automotive industry, and even power plants—that are located in the Eastern United States. As demand for Atlas' unique field machining capability grows, the company is looking to further expand its customer base.                   ---------
